Protein Function Pikachurin interactions with α-dystroglycan and its localization at the photoreceptor ribbon synapse require normal glycosylation of α-dystroglycan.Pikachurin protein is also required for increase of cone electroretinogram B-Wave during light adaptation.
Biochemical Properties . In the vertebrate retina, two forms of pikachurin have been detected: the full-length form (110kd) and the post-translational cleaved N-terminal fragment (60kd)[27]. The latter is involved in synaptic connection, bridging presynaptic and postsynaptic components
