| Protein Function | Human microsomal glutathione transferase 2 (MGST2) is a trimeric integral membrane protein that belongs to the membrane-associated proteins in eicosanoid and glutathione metabolism (MAPEG) family. |
|---|
| Biochemical Properties | The mammalian MAPEG members are integral membrane proteins localized to the endoplasmic reticulum and perinuclear membrane. They are 10–45% sequence identical and can be divided into three types based on primary structures. MGST1 and microsomal prostaglandin (PG) E synthase-1 (mPGES-1) constitute one type, MGST2, leukotriene C4 synthase (LTC4S) and five lipoxygenase activating protein (FLAP) a second type and MGST3 exemplifies a third type. MGST2 is most similar to LTC4S and they share 44% sequence identity. |
