Secondary Information

Protein Function play a role in anterograde transport of membrane proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi.Involved in osteoblast differentiation. Located in membrane. class I molecules are largely recruited to ER exit sites by Bap29/31, and that Bap29/31 is a cargo receptor for MHC class I molecules.
Biochemical Properties The N-terminal half of proteins is membrane-bound while the C-terminal half is cytoplasmic also two coiled coils is present. The second and longest of these putative coiled coils also shares weak sequence similarity with the small six-helical DED domains, suggesting that it may adopt a DED fold. vDED domain contains little α-helix at pH 7.0 while a strong increase in α-helical structure is induced at pH 4.2.BAP29 vDED is much less stable than BAP31 vDED.
